Tonight, AMD announced its new Radeon Pro Solid-State Graphics solution with 1TB of memory accessible through the PCIe bus. The company also announced its WX7100, WX5100, and WX4100 GPUs for production.

  • The GPU doesn't have to talk to the CPU to access system RAM, by the way 😛 It's got DMA capabilities to the entire GART (usually about 1/2 of System RAM total). The benefit here is, quite obviously, size rather than speed.
