AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 Review

AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 Review

While AMD’s 400- and 500-series Polaris graphics card were great value GPUs, they were aimed at budget-conscious gamers. This meant that Nvidia’s high-end 10 series cards have remained unchallenged…until now. With AMD’s new Vega GPU architecture, the company is back in the enthusiast mix and asserts that its RX Vega 64 graphics card will be competitive with Nvidia’s $550 GeForce GTX 1080 for $50 less. We’re going to put that claim to the test in our review.

Must have been something wacky with those first Drivers because if you did those same tests now you would see a high difference. Oh and undervolting does dramatically reduce power usage..

I’ll be honest the main reason I’m gonna get RX Vega 64 is because I like amd
    Instead of a 1080

    just got a vega 64, I upgraded from a nvidia 980ti g1, Reason i didnt go for a 1080ti or a 1080 are simple,
I bought a 980ti for USD 910, and i am surprised how quickly nvidia decided to stop supporting it, Total war warhammer 1 and 2 use the same engine and the same visuals, but my fps took a severe hit in tw2, I am glad i am out of greedvidia's camp.

Is it worth it if I'm considering a Freesync monitor @ 1440p 144hz? G-Sync is pricey.

1080 better than Vega and more cheaper. Maybe they beat Intel but Nvidia will stand up

Funny, they just announced an 20% rise in price after a while. The 500$ is an "early adopter" price.

I don't care about what shit you have to say, just show us numbers and graphs. In more extensive tests its showed that Vega and the GTX 1080 trade a lot of blows across a large list of games. I'd recommend a visit to Hardware Unboxed to anybody who reads this. Vega has had a confusing and perhaps to some hoping for a lot, a lackluster release, but this video doesn't do it justice. The potential and price/performance are there.

The price is misleading, Vega prices are actually much higher in reality so the 1070 and 1080 are by far the better deals.

Very bad review. Stop playing in Nvidia's backyard: don't test MafiaWorks games and Nvidia-friendly graphic engines.

Once ethereum mining dies out, prices should come down pretty drastically. Until then, I wouldn't buy this (well I don't think I'll have to upgrade in a while, but for those who are considering it, perhaps you should hold off on that). Furthermore, this is the reference model, which is never good, so I wouldn't judge the heat dissipation of the Vega series based on this particular model either.

Who died and made gamespot a reliable source for computer hardware? Who's talking? Who wrote this? What are their qualifications. ps: these miner cards are not cheaper than 1080's, they are already retailing for more, unsurprisingly.

So near 2 year hype of Vega by AMD was a joke. AMD's best could not topple NVIDIA's best yet again. Im starting to worry about future of AMD.

AMD is bumping up the Radeon price next month. So, basically you're going to see them on-par if not more expensive than Nvidia GPUs for what amounts to slightly, slightly inferior performance.

I hope the price jump is just a stunt, I'd hate to see the bargain bin of AMD get obliterated by Nvidia.

so AMD GPU's still irrelevant….and Nvidia continuing to dominate the market.. that's really sad 🙁
