Gaming on the 2017 iMac i5 8GB Radeon Pro 580 – Part 3 [feat. SW Battlefront 2, AC Origins, DOTA 2]

I just managed to update the driver of my Radeon Pro 580 and I can finally play Star Wars Battlefront 2. I thought it would be the perfect occasion to do another video about gaming on the 27″ iMac 2017.

In this video I tested Star Wars Battlefront 2, Batman Arkham Knight, Cuphead, Dota 2, Outlast 2 and Assassin’s Creed Origins.

To update your drivers, have a look at the video below:

  • Hi Pierre,
After watching your videos I ended up buying a second hand iMac 27" 2017 Radeon Pro 580 model. Same as your I believe. I have had a world of pain trying to use the drivers from Matt's site. The newer ones are all failing for various reasons. i.e. dual screen bug, Windows error reboot loop. Anyway, I wanted to ask which driver version you are using to play these games? I am hoping to find what Matt calls a red edition driver that comes with optimised setting for my games. Can you tell me which exact version you are currently using?

  • Thank you so much for your content! Definitely subbing! Been looking for information on how iMac 2017 runs games and can’t go anywhere without the typical “buy a pc” when I’m just looking for information like this

  • Hello Pierre from The Canary Island, Spain. Very interesting videos for me and I supposed too much people playing on iMac. I have a iMac 27 5k I7 32GB Raedon Pro 580 8GB. I installed Windows to Go on external SSD Samsung EVO on USB 3.1 GEN1 months ago and system is stable. But, when I am playing PUBG sometimes the game crash or the iMac reboot suddenly. The same issue if windows is installed on my internal PCI-SSD. Fun is always noisy and I have tested different AMD setup. Normally I play PUBG 1080p MEDIUM-LOW graphic step with 90-80 fps. Do you recommend to change drivers from BootcampDrivers.com?. I would like to avoid my iMac reboot randomly just when I am playing games like PUBG or Day of Infamy. Its annoying. Thanks for your support.

  • Hello! Really nice vid again, i thing U are the only one who make this gaming vids on Apple products. Two questions:
-Can U make a part 4 with Rainbow Six Seige?
-It is possible to "only" install a clean windows 10 and use it as a normal PC? Beacause U say that bootcamp have some issues with the drivers, but if U try a clean install of Win 10 i think that U can have the graphic driver up to date, no?

  • Do you get lots of frame tearing in Pubg and overwatch? I have the original drivers and the only thing that fixes it is vsync but that has its drawbacks. Hoping updating drivers fixes it. Nice videos btw

I play PUBG on IMAC. Windows 10 professional
I still think that CPU and GPU are very hot! I have adjusted the IMAC FAN to 2700 rpm.
but the CPU temperature will still jump between 88-100C".
    Can you test it thanks
