Built an SLI gtx1070 system for a client several years back and was quite jealous, Even today I cant afford it for myself then again my r9 290x 8GB is actually overkill for what I need, I just like having 2 blower cards in cf/sli and the founders cooler was nice.
If anyone is wondering it was with a 5820k at 4.5Ghz and destroyed 2160p on ultra no problems getting towards 100fps in many titles.
Actually I probably could afford it but when I have a dozen systems with various relatively lower end cards (970's, 1060's etc) spending £250 on a used vega56/gtx1070 that I dont need is hard to justify.

GTX 1070 is 20% to 70% faster than the RX580
    Still a beast at 1080p
    But I have a Vega 64 and I don't regret buying it.

Good to see it perform pretty well still. Still using mine from 2015 right now but haven't actually bought too many new AAA games so it's honestly pretty good. The game I'm most excited for is Cyberpunk but I usually wait till games get cheaper anyways so I'll probably keep rocking my Sapphire R9 390 till 2021 at least.
Problem with upgrading it now is I'd basically have to upgrade my whole system aside from storage and case.

Still rocking the 390x. Haven't met a game yet that it can't max out. Some games are touch and go at 4k resolutions (active adaptor), but at 1920×1080 everything is 50+ FPS.

I'd love to see what they are like when playing flight sims and train sims. These games you played don't require as much ram as a game like P3D would.

I'm still using the r9 390 nitro, its pretty solid but i'm looking to upgrade now. It's not because its a bad card but i'm just too tempted to get the 5700xt, there's no rush to upgrade yet as the card is still good, not great but good.I might wait until the next gen consoles release as there's rumours that GPU prices will plummet to compete with Microsoft and Sony.

Bruhh. Not enough for 60fps while you TEST in ULTRA presets. Dude.. HIGH is almost as beautiful and allows for 60fps. Ultra is for show off and screenshots (as well for making kids insecure)

I'm still using my 390. It was an impulse buy but a good one. It's definitely showing its age but I have gotten more than enough use out of it.

You say the R9 390 isn't good enough for 1080p 60 fps gaming anymore, but in most of your benchmarks it preforms just fine. It litterally can play RDR2 in high and ultra settings.

Some of these games are just not optimized for AMD cards. Hitman2 ironically being one. But R9 390 can probably be used for CAD and some limited GPU rendering that supports OpenCL. It's not just gaming. That 512 bit buswidth and the 2560 some stream processors can do more than just gaming and crypto mining.

I remember the times when my used R9 390 was worth more than a new one because of cryptocurrencies, but I didn't sell it because there were ZERO other cards on the market :D…
One of the best cards I ever had, thanks to it's 8GB of VRAM but it gets pretty hot tho, almost unbearable to play in summer (I have no air conditioning, and it's 40 degrees in the room). I won't replace it until a new GPU generation comes out before/after PS5.

Im still using a R9 390 and a i5 2500k and I can't complain at all. I play The Division, The Witcher 3, Fallout 4 and many more on max settings without any issue.

I bought an R9 390 in 2016 and I'm still using it, I'm very happy with the purchase. I can play on 1080p ultra and even 1440p on lighter games, until I change monitor I don't have any reason to upgrade

Its a amazing card! My gpu got broken after 5years of use, i haved to pay bills so a 300-400euro gpu was not possible, i buyed a 390 fur 40euro and it works amazing all games in fhd with clean 60+fps with high, setting i selled the card for 30 and buyed a rtx 2060. 390 is perfect when you need a solid gpu for less money
